Jeffrey P. Kaiser, M.D. (Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist)

For more than ten years, Dr. Kaiser has called Seattle home. And during the last six, he has focused on treating children and adolescents with mental health problems in his community. In January 2011, Dr. Kaiser will bring his prescribing expertise to Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle (EBTCS), partnering with the psychologists and other physicians of EBTCS to serve clients comprehensively in one location. Through his previous work as Medical Director of the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit (IPU) at Seattle Children's Hospital, Dr. Kaiser is acutely aware of the shortage of child and adolescent psychiatrists in Washington. With that in mind, he is also looking forward to serving the medication needs of clients from outlying communities, as well as partnering with therapists and primary care providers in those communities to lessen the suffering of shared clients. Dr. Kaiser is a prescriber with strong diagnostic and clinical skills. But more importantly, he is an empathetic, caring and hopeful physician who believes in the resilience of his clients. Dr. Kaiser knows that through thoughtful and comprehensive treatment healing can happen. Dr. Kaiser knows a multidisciplinary approach brings the best results when he treats the mental health needs of his clients. And while understanding the importance of medications, Dr. Kaiser is also a strong believer in behavioral and psychotherapeutic interventions. In light of this philosophy, Dr. Kaiser enjoys being part of a team and collaborating with providers across disciplines. Dr. Kaiser received his undergraduate degree at Duke University and graduated magna cum laude. After working as an organic chemist for two years, Dr. Kaiser pursued his medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Upon graduation from medical school, Dr. Kaiser began a long affiliation with the University of Washington, first as a general psychiatry resident, then as a child and adolescent psychiatry fellow and finally as a faculty member. While a clinician-teacher at the University, Dr. Kaiser's focus was treating clients and advancing psychiatric education for students, health professionals and the community at large. Although Dr. Kaiser has many clinical interests, prior areas of focus have included the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders and eating disorders. Dr. Kaiser is extremely excited about joining EBTCS. He hopes his presence adds a new dimension to the excellent work happening at the centers and that clients find their needs are better served as a result.
